I am delighted to be Honorary Chairman of the inaugural
Hubert J.P. Schoemaker Classic to be held
on Monday,
October 30, 2006. In addition to my close personal friendship
with Hubert, we shared a
similar vision about creating
and developing the Philadelphia region as a world class center
of excellence
for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
Hubert epitomized the definition of a true leader and
pioneer with his undying passion and spirit in making our
area a haven for entrepreneurs and innovation.
The beneficiary of this event is Melmark, a comprehensive
multi-service agency, which provides
residential, educational,
therapeutic, and recreational services for children and
adults with
developmental disabilities in Pennsylvania and
Massachusetts. Melmark’s varied programs promote independence,
increased self-awareness, and confidence, while
offering participants opportunities
to make friends and
develop personal interests.
I appreciate the opportunity to be part of this event to
honor Hubert’s legacy and raise funds for a
very worthwhile
cause. Please join me in supporting the golf tournament
and gala dinner and auction by participating as a
