Joe Duffey,

Finance Chair

Joseph Duffey is CEO and President of NewCourtland.  NewCourtland is a Philadelphia based nonprofit that is dedicated to improving health equity by accelerating access to coordinated health, housing, and social services in Philadelphia.  NewCourtland services include operations of a nursing home, senior centers, and supportive housing for elderly, veterans, and other previously homeless individuals.

Joe attributes his passion for business and his commitment to his community to the early years of his career working for his parents in his family’s retail heating services and oil delivery business.  After completing graduate studies, Joe founded Compass Management Partners and served as Managing Partner. Compass Management Partners provided strategic and management leadership to angel investor and venture capital backed early-stage companies.

In 2000, Joe was invited to serve as a board member for The Presbyterian Foundation for Philadelphia (PFFP). During his tenure, he served as Treasurer, Finance Chair, and Vice Chair prior to his current position as Chairperson since June 2018.  In October 2018 he accepted his current role as CEO of NewCourtland, PFFP’s operating entity.

In addition to serving on Melmark’s board, Joe also Chairs the board of The Tile Works of Bucks County. The Tile Works is a national treasure, preserving the work of Henry Mercer and his Moravian Pottery and Tiles Works, by its ongoing operations as a working museum and artisan tile factory.

Joe earned a BBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

“As CEO of NewCourtland my desire is to provide leadership to a talented team of problem solvers and innovators dedicated to finding solutions to housing and healthcare challenges for the underserved individuals within our community.”
