Jescah Apamo-Gannon, Ph.D., BCBA-D, LABA, is an innovative educator and behavior analyst devoted to increasing student success through inclusive practices, promoting educational equity, and serving all students within a collaborative team effort. Jescah is a strategic thinker with an organizational vision that is promoted utilizing a distributed leadership model; expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion, in operations, budget, program and strategy development, grant writing, curriculum coordination, and development.
Jescah currently serves as an assistant professor and chair of the Graduate Programs in Moderate and Severe Disabilities at Fitchburg State University. Before entering academia, Jescah progressively and successfully executed various roles (teacher, behavior analyst, district-level administrator, consultant) across various settings (Elementary and Secondary, private, public, community, and clinical practice). These experiences provided her with a broad perspective of education, social justice, legal and policy matters which has shaped her practice and appreciation for community stakeholders’ involvement in education.
Reflecting on her multidisciplinary background as an educator and behavior analyst, Jescah also finds time to give back locally, nationally, and internationally. Over the years, she has partnered with two schools in Kenya, where she conducts pro bono training geared to teaching behavior analytic strategies. In 2016, Jescah founded a private practice where she provides consultation to state agencies, local officials, schools, and educators on improving education and behavior analytic services focusing on diversity and culturally responsive practices. In addition, she serves on educational boards, professional organizations boards, and, most recently, is a member of her town’s Cultural Council.
Jescah graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Science degree in Education (MS.Ed) from Simmons University. She holds an advanced post-graduate diploma (ATP) in Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University. She completed Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis at Simmons University while also completing a graduate Certificate of Advanced Education Leadership (CAEL) Harvard Graduate School of Education, Harvard University .
Jescah is a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst (LABA) and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst Doctoral designation ( BCBA- D®). She holds multiple professional licensures from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, including Special Education Administrator, Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities, Transition Specialist, and an -endorsement as an Autism Specialist.
